iOS 5 on iPad. So far, so good.

Upgrading my iPad to iOS 5 was a snap. Ok. Maybe not all the way. Downloading over 700 megabytes in Nigeria is not fun. It took all night! Where is the broadband here?

Anyway, after the download and upgrade, the first thing that caught my attention was  the Newsstand. After all the noise made online about it (not by Apple... they don't talk much), I had to check it out. Apple's Newsstand will change the way we read newspapers and magazines. Imaging being able to read any newspaper from any part of the world on your iPad. It is the future.

And there is that iCloud thing. You can sync all your files, contacts bookmarks, etc, with your iCloud account and wirelessly push them to all your devices..  As long as it fits in 5GB. If you want more space you will have to pay. iCloud on OSX Lion requires the 10.7.2 upgrade. Read more about iCloud here

  1. 700mb was a bit scary considering the instability of my present data connection that switches from 3G to E, and whenever it's on E, it drags slow and cuts Internet connection. That upgrade notification count on setting's icon still there. Pls which Network micro sim is most stable to stand that 700mb download and above without breaking? Thanks for the iCloud info, got to give it a try!

  3. hi Andrew. I don't think those SIMs are allowed to hold a connection long enough to download 700mb. I really don't use them to do anything serious.
